6th Grade 

Language Arts: Students will finish reading Harriet Tubman and begin working on the writing project related to the novel. A detailed outline will be due Friday. Students have a grammar unit test and a bookmark due Friday.    

Math: Students will continue to compare Fractions, Decimals and Percents.  Students will also calculate percent of a number.  Tutoring is last period Tuesday and Thursday.

Science: Continue discussing science fair projects. Continue study of the water cycle and how to clean water. Five note cards due on Wednesday. Science Fair Topic Proposals are due 11/14/16 (Monday).  Science Fair Project Plans are due on 12/1/16.

Social Studies: We are back into the Mesopotamia world, with discussions of the Fertile Crescent and early empires.  We are beginning a new project, An Historical Connection, which will be due on Friday, December 9, 2016.

 

7th Grade

Language Arts: Students will finish reading Dragonwings and begin working on the writing project related to the novel. A detailed outline will be due Friday. Students have a grammar unit test and a bookmark due Friday.    

Math:  Students will finish inverse variation.  Chapter 3 Review will follow.  Chapter 3 Test will be this week.  Tutoring is Tuesday and Friday mornings before school 7:30-8:00 am.

Science: Continue discussing science fair projects. Begin study of continental drift. Five note cards due on Wednesday. Science Fair Topic Proposals are due 11/14/16 (Monday). Science Fair Project Plans are due on 12/1/16.

Social Studies: We will be back into the Civil War era with discussions of Total War and the nation’s reconciliation.  We are beginning a new project, An Historical Connection, which will be due on Friday, December 9, 2016.

 

8th Grade

Language Arts: Students will finish reading Anne Frank as a class and begin working on the writing project related to the play. A detailed outline will be due Friday. Students will also work on Literature Circles; meetings are on Tuesday and Thursday. Students have a grammar unit test and a bookmark due Friday.    

Math:  Students will be continue writing linear equations in Chapter 3 and supplemental packer.  Tutoring is Wednesday and Thursday mornings 7:30-8:00 am.

Science: Continue discussing science fair projects. Begin discussing parts of a cell as a review to prepare for genetics. Five note cards due on Wednesday. Science Fair Topic Proposals are due 11/14/16 (Monday). Science Fair Project Plans are due on 12/1/16.

Social Studies: We are back into the World War II era with a focus on US involvement and the Holocaust.  We are beginning a new project, An Historical Connection, which will be due on Friday, December 9, 2016.

 

All of Middle School

Band: Please make sure you take home your instruments each day and that you are practicing 30 minutes a day. The music room is open after school at 3:15 to pick up your instruments. Do not store instruments in your homeroom classes. We will be working on playing the Star Spangled Banner. There will be a test on Wednesday on Long Tone Studies 1 and 2.

 

Music: Please make sure you are practicing your recorders and that you bring them to class. You will need to bring your recorders to class from here on out. We will be testing on something from Unit 2 this Tuesday. It will be one of these exercises (35-42).

 

PE:  Remember to think “healthy” in our food and activity choices!

 

Technology:  This week we continue researching fast food nutrition.  Students must plan a meal then research the nutritional information for at least 3 restaurants.  They are to present their findings in an excel document, graphing, comparing and evaluating the information they have learned. They can access the instructions and rubric at classroom.google.com.  Please return AUP forms.   

 

Library:  Book fair is finally here, and the holidays are approaching fast!  Stop by and help support literacy skills for our students!  Thank you and happy reading!!!!

 

Student Council Update: 

Flag Ceremony this Friday and a chance to recognize Veterans for their service.  We’re proposing an Honor Guard to care for our flags each day and to present The Colors at Flag Ceremonies.  If you are interested, see a member of Student Council or Mr. Fishel.
